Dr Rigas is a GP with a primary focus on the multi-generational effects of obesity. She is also the founding Chair of the RACGP Obesity Management Network.
Dr Rigas was raised in Sydney and obtained her medical degree from the UNSW. She spent several years abroad, during which she completed her post graduate medical training.
As the Senior Bariatric Medical Practitioner at St George Private Hospital, Sydney, she is Australia’s first GP to be recognised as a Bariatric Care Specialist by the SRC. Dr Rigas was also recently appointed a VMO Obesity Doctor position at St George Private Hospital.
Dr Rigas is committed to ongoing education of both health care professionals but also to the wider community. She is on a number of medical advisory boards both in Australia and internationally, and is a strong advocate for the reduction of weight stigma and bias, and the equitable access to effective evidence based treatments.
