After 3 years of meetings and stakeholder engagement the ANZMOSS Public Bariatric Surgery Framework document will be released on the 15th October.
The Framework aims to provide clinicians and Hospitals with evidence based ways of selecting and managing patients being considered for bariatric surgery in order to reduce the current inequities that prevent access to bariatric surgery in our public hospital system. The key stakeholders include surgeons, physicians, hospital administrators and others, and the organisations involved in the document development include ANZMOSS, MSAC, RACS, AMA, ANZOS, NACOS and The Obesity Collective.
There will be a media release on the 15th about the Framework, but we also want to make it available to our members and the public in order to open the discussion up about the continued importance of advocacy for appropriate patient care.
